Neil Young's omission in the country music halls of fame

Neil Young, after many decades of rock-and-roll music, has returned to acoustic. His song "Helpless" hinted at the album's future. Young's music was a mix of country, folk, rock and pop, but his best-known trait was his willingness to let his psyche out on the public. His albums are an extension on the shaman’s rite-of-passage: Young channeled darkest parts of his mind to create something new. Harvest (1972), continued this tradition with a rare stylistic consistency. Harvest, while it was a poor album, was his best-selling album. But, it wasn't very satisfying.

Gram Parsons of The Byrds

There's a big debate going on about whether The Byrds' Gram Parsons should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The late musician died in 1973, leaving behind a large collection of music that helped shape the Americana genre. Many people are still lobbying for Gram Parsons to be inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame. He was a pioneer for country music but also supported rock 'n' rolling.

FAQ

Why are there so few independent films that get released?

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

Because the film is loved by the public, they believe distributors will be interested in it.

However, this is seldom the case. Distributors often use independent filmmakers.

They might delay a film’s release date until after the awards show has finished.

They delay the release of a low-budget movie until after the summer blockbuster seasons has started.

Distributors will also attempt to keep movies away from viewers until they have spent hundreds of dollars on popcorn, tickets, or candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

What percentage of the box office goes to marketing budgets?

Marketing budgets can account for as much as 20% to 40% of a film’s overall budget. Because marketing is vital to any film's success,

Without marketing, nobody will know anything about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

What's the difference of an indie movie and a foreign-language film?

Independent films are usually made by one filmmaker who makes all of the decisions.

However, foreign language films are typically produced by a larger production group.

They often hire actors, authors, and directors who are from other countries.

To ensure the dialogue sounds natural, professional translators are also hired.

What's the difference between a manufacturer and a distributor?

The movie is produced by a producer. The movie is distributed through a distributor. Distributors and theaters are two options for producers to sell their movies. Distributors purchase movies directly from producers. Then they sell them to theaters, cable channels, or streaming services.

Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This means that some theaters may charge more to see a certain movie than others. Distributors with multiple theaters are a good choice if your movie needs to be seen by as many people.

How To

How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you have been approved, you will be given a certificate that shows your name and details, including date of birth, place of residence, occupation, and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. The person who accepts the nomination will receive a second confirmation letter. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a check payable the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then sends the check directly to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The other half goes to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. To be eligible for the HWOF, the artist must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce any balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. For example, if your first nomination was in 1990, you would owe $15,000. However, if it had been in 1980, you would owe 10,000.

You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove you from the list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. A star can be renominated after 10 years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Your family members can nominate you for a star. If there are no living relatives, then the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place a memorial marker in front of the star.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF does not intend to be a historical monument. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened to the stars that got stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
