If you're under 18, you must be accompanied at all times by someone 21 or older.

You can't enter the walkway before 10 am.

You can't leave the walkway if you have already paid.

How many theaters are necessary to make my investment back?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

One theater is sufficient if you intend to screen your film for less time than two weeks.

If you're going to run your film for longer than two weeks, then at least two theaters are needed.

What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?

Hollywood studios produce around 3,000 films per year. That's right, 3000!

Hollywood spends billions advertising these films. They spend millions producing them. They also spend millions on marketing them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

It's probably between 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? The majority of these films are either direct-to video releases or sit in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.

So why don't we see more of them? Why aren't they released in theaters? Because they're too expensive to produce.

And if they were cheaper to produce, they'd be released into theaters.

This is where I come in. I will assist you in finding the best possible method to release your movie in theaters.

You'll learn how to maximize your return and increase the chances of your movie being shown in theaters.

We have to face it...

Getting your film into theaters can be quite difficult. The process is long, complex and full of legalities.

It may also cost you plenty of money before you even get started.

To make matters worse, the window of time during which you can distribute your film is extremely limited.

There isn't enough time in between the time a movie is finished and when its theatrical run starts.

Why do so few independent films ever get distributed?

Indie filmmakers often assume that distributors will pick up their films.

Because the film is loved by the public, they believe distributors will be interested in it.

This is not often the case. Distributors often benefit from independent filmmakers.

They use tactics such as delaying a film's release date until after awards season has ended.

They may delay the release of a low budget film until after summer blockbuster season begins.

Distributors try to keep films out of the hands of audiences until they've spent hundreds on tickets, popcorn, and candy.

After all, they don't want to lose out on those profits.

Do foreign sales make Hollywood more than domestic sales?

Yes, but only slightly. About 17% of total revenue was generated abroad in 2017. 83% of total revenue came from domestic sources.

In fact, more than half the world's people live in overseas markets.

This means that even those who have never seen a movie at their home, many will still be interested in your movie.

How To

How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce established the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960. The HWOF, located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star is a symbol of someone who contributed to the production of motion pictures, television, radio and theater or other aspects popular culture. There are currently 1,922 living persons listed on the HWOF.

To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates the nominations and decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. The person who accepts the nomination will receive a second confirmation letter. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the applicant or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs pays the remainder.

Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. To be eligible for the HWOF, the artist must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce any balance. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. You would owe $15,000. If you were first Nominated in 1990, for example. However, if you had been previously nominated in 1980, you would owe $10,000.

You can remove yourself from HWOF by contacting the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to pay the rest of your debt. They will remove you from the list.

How old do you have to be in order to receive a star on HWOF?

When nominated, one must have at least 18-years-old. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. One can still be nominated after receiving a star after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Family members may nominate you to be a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250 and 300 lbs. This makes it approximately 4 tons!
