Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Many indie filmmakers believe that distributors will take their films.

They are certain distributors will take their films, as they know that the public will love them.

However, this is seldom the case. Distributors often take advantage of independent filmmakers.

They employ tactics like delaying a movie's release until after awards season has ended.

They delay the release of a low-budget movie until after the summer blockbuster seasons has started.

Distributors may also keep films from the public until people have already spent hundreds of money on tickets, popcorn or candy.

They don’t want to miss out on these profits.

How much does Hollywood make per year?

Production costs on average for a movie are around $100 million. If you produced ten movies per year for a decade you would have enough money to purchase a small country.

A private island with an airport and power plant, as well as a bank, post office and police station, would be yours.

If you don't find this to be fun, then you are probably insane.

What happens if my movie doesn't do well at the box office

Poor box office performance can lead to many complications.

You may decide to alter the marketing strategy for your film.

The script might be rewritten.

Third, you may decide to add characters.

Fourth, you may decide to remove certain characters.

Fifth, you might want to make some cuts.

Sixth, and you might decide that it wasn't worthwhile making the film.

Which percentage of the box offices goes to marketing budgets and what is their share?

Marketing budgets often account for 20%-40% of the film's budget. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Without good marketing, no one knows about your film. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

What is the difference between an independent film and a film in another language?

A single filmmaker usually makes an independent film. He or she makes all the decisions.

However, foreign language films are typically produced by a larger production group.

They often hire actors, writer, and directors from abroad.

Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.

How To

How to get a Hollywood Walk of Fame star

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It consists of 2,711 stars embedded into the sidewalk along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star is a symbol of someone who contributed to the production of motion pictures, television, radio and theater or other aspects popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.

If you were nominated by an HWOF member, or if there are significant contributions made to the entertainment, film, radio, theatre, and music industries, you may be eligible for a "star" award. A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they do, they will send a letter explaining their decision to the applicant at his/her home address. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due is dependent on the number of years since you were first recognized. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.

If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove the name of your from the list.

What age is required to become a HWOF star?

Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To receive a star, one must be alive at that time. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Family members may nominate you to be a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF does not intend to be a historical monument. It is meant to honor those who contributed to film history.

What happened to all the stars stolen? Around 1,200 stars were taken by the thieves. Each star weighs approximately 250-300 pounds, which equates to 4 tons of stars.
