FAQ

Why isn't there more crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter for filmmakers?

Crowdfunding is a great way to connect with potential investors.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They believe they need another person to verify their claims.

Even though they aren't yet proven to be themselves, they don't believe that anyone should put money into them.

Instead, they spend many months working on the project in hopes that someone will notice.

They realize that they did not prepare well when they launch their campaign.

Instead of receiving thousands of dollars, they receive a few donations.

What is the difference between a producer and a distributor?

Produced by a producer, the movie is produced. The movie is distributed via a distributor. Distributors and theaters are two options for producers to sell their movies. Distributors buy movies from producers. They then sell them on to theaters or cable channels, as well as streaming services.

Distributors must negotiate with theater owners where their movies will be shown. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. You should select a distributor that has multiple theaters if you want your movie seen as much as possible.

What is the cost of distributing a feature-length film?

A distribution deal can cost anywhere from $100,000 to $150,000.

Theaters typically cost around $10,000.

Screens are typically around $5,000 in cost.

It means that, if you have 100 screens your distribution fees would be $500,000.

If you have ten screens, your distribution fees would be $50,000.

How much do actors get paid?

Actor pay ranges from $1 million per movie to less than $100,000 for independent films. Actors typically receive between $10,000 and $20,000 per film. Many actors aren't paid. It depends on what actors are successful. Some actors are successful and make millions. Others struggle to find work.

Why is it that so few independent films are ever released?

Indie filmmakers tend to assume that distributors will buy their films.

Because the film is loved by the public, they believe distributors will be interested in it.

But this is rare. Distributors often take advantage of independent filmmakers.

They will use techniques such as delaying the release of a movie until after the awards season has ended.

Or they delay the release date of a low-budget film until after the summer blockbuster season has begun.

Distributors are also trying to keep films off the streets until audiences have already spent hundreds upon thousands of dollars on tickets or popcorn.

They don't want these profits to be lost.

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. It's true, there are three thousand!

These films are marketed by Hollywood, which spends billions of dollars. They spend millions making them. They spend millions to promote them. How many of these movies do you think end up in theaters?

Most likely, the answer is around 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

However, not all of them are unavoidable. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.

We should see more of them. They are not being released in theaters. They're too costly to produce.

They would be released in theaters if they were less expensive to produce.

That's where my expertise comes in. I can help you to find the best way to get your film into theaters.

I will teach you how to increase your return on investment (ROI), as well as increasing your chances of seeing the movie in theaters.

We have to face it...

It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. The process can be complex and lengthy.

It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

There's not enough time between the moment a film is completed and its theatrical debut.

Why is Hollywood calling it Hollywood?

The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named after its location in Los Angeles, which at the time was known as "Hollywood."

It was an exciting place to visit and the name stuck. People would come from all over just to see what was happening there.

Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. There are movies, TV shows, music videos and commercials. And we call them all "Hollywood."
