FAQ

What's the difference between an indie film and a foreign language film?

Independent films are usually made by one filmmaker who makes all of the decisions.

However, foreign language films are typically produced by a larger production group.

They often hire writers and actors from other nations.

Professional translators are also available to ensure that the dialogue sounds natural.

How much does it set you back to distribute a feature length film?

A typical distribution deal will cost between $100,000-$150,000.

The average theater cost is about $10,000.

The average screen price is approximately $5,000

This means that your distribution fee for 100 screens would be approximately $500,000.

Distributor fees of $50,000 would apply if there are ten screens.

How many theaters do I need to make back my investment?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.

If you're going to run your film for longer than two weeks, then at least two theaters are needed.

How many movies is Hollywood making in a single year?

The number of films produced by Hollywood studios each year is approximately 3,000. Three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions on their production. They also spend millions promoting them. But how many end up actually getting seen in the theaters, do you think?

Most likely, the answer is around 200-300. What happens to the 2,700+ additional films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

Hence, why aren't there more of them? They are not being released in theaters. They're too costly to produce.

They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.

That's where my expertise comes in. I can help you to find the best way to get your film into theaters.

I'll show how to maximize your return-on-investment (ROI) as well as increase your chances for seeing your movie in theatres.

Because let's face it...

It can be hard to get your film into the theaters. The process can be complex and lengthy.

It can also come at a high cost before you even begin.

It is even more difficult to distribute your film within a limited timeframe.

There is not enough time to wait between the completion of a film and its theatrical release.

Is the Hollywood Walk of Fame a free thing?

Yes! You don't have to pay anything to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame. However, if you want to take photos, you'll need to get a permit first. It costs $15 per person.

If you're planning on visiting the Hollywood Walk of Fame, make sure to bring a valid ID.

If you are below 18 years old, you must accompany someone 21-years-old or older.

You cannot enter the walkway until 10 am.

Once you are inside, you will not be able to leave the walkway without paying another time.

There are no cameras allowed inside the walkway.

What is the difference of a producer and distributor?

The movie is made by a producer. The distributor distributes the movie. Producors have the option to sell movies directly to distributors or theaters. Distributors acquire movies from producers. They then sell them to theaters and cable channels or streaming services.

Distributors must negotiate with theater owners where their movies will be shown. This could mean that certain theaters may charge more for a particular movie than others. Distributors should be able to distribute your movie to as many theaters as possible.

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF can be found at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. It has 2,711 stars embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star is a symbol of someone who contributed to the production of motion pictures, television, radio and theater or other aspects popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.

To become a member of the HWOF, you must submit your name to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then submits your name to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached on a concrete base at the star.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do approve them, they send a note to the home address of the applicant stating their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The applicant then pays $25 to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce, which forwards the money to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues an official check payable to Hollywood Chamber of commerce. This check is then sent to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the application submitted by the artist or organization. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce pays half of the $12.50 fee to the artist or organization. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs receives the remaining half.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due depends on how many years ago you were first nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.

You will need to contact Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be removed from the HWOF. They will remove your name from this list.

How old does one have to get a star on the HWOF?

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To receive a Star, one must still be living at the time. After receiving a stars, one could still be nominated after ten more years.
