What is the average number of movies Hollywood makes in a year?
Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. That's right, three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions to advertise for these movies. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions on marketing them. How many end up being released in theaters?
It is likely that the answer is between 200-300. The question is, what happens to all the other 2,700+ films? Well, most are either made as direct-to-video releases, or they just sit there gathering dust in storage vaults.
They are not all destined to be overlooked. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.
Hence, why aren't there more of them? Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? They're too expensive.
They could also be made cheaper and put into theaters.
Here's where you find me. I will help you find the best possible way to release your film in theaters.
I'll show you how to maximize your return on investment (ROI) and increase your chances of seeing your movie in theaters.
Let's face the facts...
It can be difficult to get your movie into theaters. The process can be complex and lengthy.
It could also be costly before you even start.
It is even more difficult to distribute your film within a limited timeframe.
There simply isn't enough time between when a film is finished, and its theatrical run begins.
How much does it take to distribute a feature?
Distribution deals typically cost $100,000 to $150,000.
The average cost of a theater is approximately $10,000
The average screen cost is about $5,000
The distribution fee is approximately $500,000. If you have 100 screens then that would mean your cost to distribute the screen(s) is around $500,000.
Your distribution fees would be $50,000 if you had ten screens.
How much of the box office revenue goes to marketing budgets
Marketing budgets typically account for between 20% and 40% of a film’s budget. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.
Marketing is the only way to make sure that your film is known. If people don't know anything about your film they won't pay to see it.
What happens if my film does not perform well at the box-office?
A film that does poorly at the box-office could lead to many problems.
First, it is possible to decide to modify how you market the film.
Second, you may decide to rewrite the script.
Third, you may decide to add characters.
Fourth, you might decide to remove some characters.
Fifth, it is possible to decide to end the scene.
Sixth, it's possible to decide that the film was too expensive.
Are Hollywood and Bollywood bigger than Bollywood?
Producing films that are well-received is the most difficult challenge.
The problem is that there are many movies competing for people's time and money. And if you don't stand out from the crowd, you won't have much chance of getting watched.
What makes a movie a success? What makes an actor a star? Or a director? It's not only talent, but also luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.
Films can be divided into two categories: blockbuster films with large budgets or independent productions. Blockbuster movies are expensive to produce and distribute. These blockbuster movies are usually produced by big studios who want their movies to reach as broad an audience as possible. But these big-budget films tend to appeal mainly to older audiences.
Independent films, which are typically smaller-scale productions, can be financed either by individual investors or groups. These films often focus on niche markets and cater to specific tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. However, this doesn't mean that they're always cheaper to watch. In fact, most indie films are very hard to find.
We need both types? Do we need blockbuster movies, or smaller independent films? Hollywood is more important than Bollywood. Hollywood produces more movies than India every year.
