How many movies is Hollywood making in a single year?
The number of films produced by Hollywood studios each year is approximately 3,000. Yes, that's correct, three thousand!
Hollywood spends billions on film advertising. They spend millions to produce them. They also spend millions promoting them. How many end up being released in theaters?
It's probably between 200-300. So what happens to all those other 2,700+ films? Well, most are either made as direct-to-video releases, or they just sit there gathering dust in storage vaults.

How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce founded the Hollywood Walk of Fame, HWOF (Hollywood Walk of Fame) in 1960. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
To become a member of HWOF you will need to submit your name at the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. This submits your name then to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. A bronze plaque with the name of your choice is included. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. The nominations are evaluated by a committee, which then decides whether or not to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. A second letter confirms acceptance if the nominee accepts the nomination.
