Each year, Hollywood studios produce approximately 3,000 films. That's right, 3000!
Hollywood spends billions on advertising for these films. They spend millions producing them. They also spend millions marketing them. How many end up being released in theaters?
The answer is most likely between 200 and 300. So what happens to all those other 2,700+ films? Most of them are either released direct-to-video or just sit in storage.
Some of them may not be seen. Some of them are available for distribution via Netflix and Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus or iTunes, Google Play, and others.

Film producers face the greatest challenge: how to get their movie noticed by the audience.
Problem is, there are many films competing for viewers' time and money. It's hard to stand out among the rest and get noticed.
What makes a movie a success? What makes an actor famous or a director? Or a director? It's not just talent - it's also luck. It doesn't matter if your actors are the best in the world. But a poor script will make you lose everything.
When it comes to movies, there are two main types. There are big-budget blockbusters as well as small independent productions. Blockbuster films can cost hundreds and millions of dollars to make and distribute. They are typically made by huge studios who want to ensure that their movies reach a wide audience. These big-budget movies appeal to older audiences.
Independent films are generally smaller-scale productions that may be financed by individuals or groups of investors. These films focus on niche markets or cater to particular tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. They aren't always more affordable to watch, however. Most indie films are difficult to find.
The question is: Do we really need both types of movies? What are the best movies for independent cinema? Well, I think that Hollywood is actually bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood makes almost twice the number of movies each year than India.
Why is Hollywood calling this Hollywood?
D.W. Griffith was the one who founded California's first film industry. It was named after Los Angeles, at the time known as Hollywood.
The name stuck because it was such an exciting place for people to visit. People would come from all over just to see what was happening there.
Today, Hollywood is still very much part of our culture. Movies, television shows and music videos are all part of our culture. All of them are called "Hollywood."
